Mar 08, 2010
Footwear and apparel firm Woodland is giving a big push to the kidswear segment with plans to launch range of shoes for children by the middle of this year and open dedicated shop-in-shops format for the segment.
Besides, the firm which had last year ventured in the kids-wear segment with its apparels range, is also set to open exclusive stores of its premium brand ‘Woods’ for adults in the next few months.
“Footwear (for kids) will follow by the middle of the year followed by more apparel like T-shirts and jackets. Our kidswear items will be for both boys and girls in the 7-15 years age group,” said Harkirat Singh, managing director, Woodland.
Singh said the company will open shop-in-shops format dedicated to the kids segment.
“We plan to have two-three shop-in-shops (for the kids-wear range) in major metros by the end of this year,” Singh added.
For the premium range ‘Woods’, the company plans to open about eight to 10 exclusive stores in major metros by the year-end.
“We launched this range (Woods) a year back with products for formal and party wear. The good response has now prompted us to go for exclusive Woods stores,” Singh said, adding the company would invest about Rs 80-90 crore on the project.
At present, Woodland has over 300 outlets across the country, besides being present through another 3,500-odd multi-branded stores. Last month, the company had announced plans to open exclusive stores in the overseas markets.
